All four of the Clark Kerr session rooms (Clark Kerr, Newel Perry, Sargent Johnson, Warring Wilkinson) feature a built-in projection screen and a blackboard.

Rate per room

8-hour rentals on weekdays are $400.00, 8-hour rentals on weekends are $600. Note: Campus users get a 10% discount.

Clark Kerr room

Named after the first chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley, the Clark Kerr room is a simple and functional space that can be used for a variety of purposes. This bright meeting room has large chalkboards at the front and the back of the room in addition to a projection screen to cater to any of your presentation needs.

Clark Kerr (1911–2003) was the first chancellor of UC Berkeley and 12th president of the University of California, presiding over UC during the tumultuous years of the Free Speech Movement. He is known for resisting the use of violence in response to student protests, citing his faith and years of experience in labor negotiations. He enacted a three-tiered master plan for Californian higher education that continues to this day.

Newel Perry room

Ideal for classroom sessions, panel discussions, speakers, and general meetings, the Newel Perry room is a simple and practical space that can be used for a variety of purposes. This sunny meeting room features a large chalkboard and a built-in projection screen to cater to any of your presentation needs.

Dr. Newel Perry (1873–1961) lost his eyesight as a child and was sent to the California School of the Blind, located at that time in Berkeley. As a student, he showed remarkable aptitude in mathematics, eventually graduating from UC Berkeley and obtaining his doctorate from the University of Munich. Perry would go on to found the California School for the Blind Alumni Association of Self-Supporting Blind, which achieved legislative victories such as reader funds for blind students.

Sargent Johnson room

The Sargent Johnson room marries functionality with style. A professional classroom space with chalkboards and a projector screen, the room features a classic, artistic panel that accents the room.

Sargent Claude Johnson (1888–1967) was an artist who worked in many media, including paint and print, but is best known for his sculptures. After moving to San Francisco in 1915, Johnson worked to create modern, positive, and dignified representations of African Americans.

Warring Wilkinson room

Perfect for panel discussions, speakers, and general meetings, the Warring Wilkinson room is a simple and functional space that can be used for a variety of purposes. This bright meeting room has chalkboards along one wall with windows opposite, making the room an open and engaging space.

Warring Wilkinson (1834–1918) headed the Asylum for the Deaf, Blind, and Dumb (now the California School for the Deaf and the California School for the Blind) during its first four decades. Under his leadership, it became the finest educational institution for deaf, blind, and mute pupils in the United States. Wilkinson secured state funding for the school and, in 1879, relocated the School to Berkeley, where it thrived for 100 years. The Berkeley site is now a Berkeley Landmark and home to the Clark Kerr residential complex.
